The root system of Phyllostachys pubescens is concentrated and dense, and the bamboo stalks grow fast and the growth amount is large. Therefore, warm and humid climate conditions are required, with an average annual temperature of 15-20°C and annual precipitation of 1200-1800 mm. The requirements for the soil are also higher than those of ordinary tree species, which require sufficient water and humidity conditions and are not resistant to flooding. The middle and thick layers of fertile acidic red soil, yellow-red soil and yellow soil developed from slate, shale, granite, sandstone and other parent rocks are widely distributed and grow well. It grows poorly in the sticky and dry reticulated red soil and woodland where the groundwater level is too high. In the selection of afforestation land, you should choose valleys, foothills, and mountainside areas leeward to the south; the soil depth is more than 50 cm; and the place is fertile, moist, drainage, and acidic sandy soil or sandy loam with good air permeability.
